Crackdown on Christianity now includes classical works like Mozart’s ‘Requiem’

China’s crackdown on Christianity is being expanded to include even classical works of music if their themes are Christian, such as Handel’s «Messiah» and Mozart’s «Requiem,» according to the London Telegraph.

The report said the Academy of Ancient Music, a leading orchestral and choral group in Britain, was invited to sing Handel’s «Messiah» at the Beijing International Music Festival this month.

While authorities are allowing the performance to go on, the report said, it will be «by invitation only,» a move effectively barring members of the public.

The report said the Sinfonica Orchestra di Roma also has cancelled plans to play Mozart’s Requiem in honor of the victims of the Sichuan earthquake and to raise money for survivors. Instead, the program will include smaller, non-religious works.

Stefano Palamidessi, the general manager for the Rome orchestra, told the newspaper he was instructed to drop Requiem…

China tiene una minoría musulmana, los augures, en su provincia más al oeste, Xinjiang, en Asia central. Hemos tratado de ello aquí. Leo ahora un despacho de AFP en el que se hala de la rebelión de esto figures contra la opresión China:

En la región de Xinjiang viven alrededor de 8 millones de musulmanes de etnia uighur, de origen turco, con una lengua y culturas muy distintas a la china. Los uighures han sufrido la represión por parte del Gobierno central y algunos luchan por la independencia. Pekín no quiere perder el control sobre Xinjiang, una provincia estratégica por su riqueza en recursos energéticos y por su posición fronteriza con Afganistán y Pakistán.

Me ha llamado también la atención que cuentan con el apoyo de los EE. UU.

Fuentes oficiales chinas confirmaron ayer una serie de protestas protagonizadas por uighures el 13 de marzo. Radio Free Asia (RFA), una emisora financiada por EEUU así como grupos uighures en el exilio, ya habían informado de protestas de cientos de personas, en su mayoría mujeres, contra la prohibición del uso del velo islámico.

Mas:

«Para Pekín, cualquier tibetano o uighur descontento con el régimen chino es considerado un separatista. Los uighures son, además, terroristas», escribió el lunes en el Washington Post Rebiya Kadeer, líder de los uighures en el exilio.

De nuevo, un error estratégico de los EE.UU. Utilizar a los musulmanes contra sus enemigos estratégicos, ayer fueron los talibanes, contra los rusos en Afganistán, hoy son los figures contra los chinos, en Xinjiang. ¿Creerá que se lo van a agradecer? Ni olvidan ni aprenden.

Irán: ¿estamos a las puertas de una guerra mundial? (III)

Sigo con el tema iraní del que ya he tratado antes en 1 y 2.Así que al final han mandado al Consejo de Seguridad el expediente nuclear iraní, lo qu epareció estar paralizado porque en él se pedía el desarme nuclear en Oriente Medio, lo que incluía a Israel y USA se oponía. Es interesante reseñar que la reunión Al-Assad-Ahmadenijad, esta fue una de las peticiones. Sin embargo, parece que al final USA (ese Gran satán Maligno que no le deja a Ahmandenijad echar a los judíos al mar -via Atlas Shrugs-) cedió:

• Telegraph reported that the IAEA board of governors has voted 27 to three to report Iran to the UN Security Council.
• The IAEA published the text of the resolution.

1. Reuters reported that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad issued an order to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization to restart full-scale uranium enrichment, according to his website. However the Iranian presidential office denies the report.
2. The New York Times reported that Donald H. Rumsfeld urged the world to work for a »diplomatic solution» to halt Iran’s nuclear program, but cut out of his statement an important reference to the Iranian people.
3. Reuters reported that U.S. Senator John McCain urged the world to impose economic and other sanctions on Iran, bypassing the United Nations if needed.
4. Reuters reported that Richard Perle said on Saturday the West should not make the mistake of waiting too long to use military force if Iran comes close to getting an atomic weapon.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says it has evidence that suggests links between Iran’s ostensibly peaceful nuclear program and its military work on high explosives and missiles, according to a confidential agency report provided to member countries today.The four-page report, which officials say was based at least in part on intelligence provided by the United States, refers to a secretive Iranian entity called the «Green Salt Project,» which worked on uranium processing, high explosives and a missile warhead design. The combination suggests a «military-nuclear dimension,» the report said, that if true would undercut Iran’s claims that its nuclear program was solely aimed at producing electrical power.

The report will be debated by the 35 countries that make up the international agency’s board when they meet in emergency session on Thursday to decide whether Iran should be reported to the United Nations Security Council for its nuclear activities.

«The proposal has to conform itself with the new circumstances,» he added. «If the Russian proposal makes itself compatible with the new conditions, it can be negotiated.«

Iran will not be deprived of its «right to nuclear technology» according to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

«Who are you to threaten the independent people of Iran? The Iranian people will follow their own path and will under no condition renounce their legitimate right,» he was quoted as saying by the official news agency IRNA.
Ahmadinejad also brushed aside a compromise proposal from Moscow, under which Iran’s uranium would be enriched in Russia in order to ally proliferation concerns but at the same time guarantee Iranian access to nuclear fuel.
«The propose to enrich abroad. They think we are backward. Even if we agreed to this, what would we do if one day they refused to give us fuel? How can we trust you to give us fuel if you don’t even let us buy airplane parts?» he said, referring to longstanding US sanctions.

Be certain that we will not back down,» he was quoted as saying earlier, having branded the Western powers as «resembling old lions with no hair or mane, incapable of doing anything.» «The oppressing powers… say the Iranian people and government want to be isolated, but I tell them that the ones who will be isolated are them.»

Como leo en El Reporter.com:

hoy quiero volver a retomar ese asunto al hilo de un artículo escrito por el periodista de origen iraní Amir Taheri, publicado en GES en el que hace un análisis claro y distinto que titula «La agenda de Irán para el mundo» en el que el presidente iraní Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, alegó en un discurso en el parlamento que la Democracia es indeseable en su país.
El régimen iraní es actualmente un equivalente al de Hitler en 1933: el nacionalsociaismo, que repudiaba la Democracia como indeseable. Por ello, creo que a Iran no sólo hay que pararle los pies. Hay que combatirle. Iran intenta implementar, primero a su sociedad, después a la sociedad islámica, después al mundo, su filosofía de una vida sin Democracia. La Democracia, para el régimen fascita de Iran, es pecado. En su discuros, Mahmoud rechaza airosamente todas las «ideas políticas extranjeras” por incompatibles con el islam.

For some who under-react it is a consideration that on the short run the menace, if it exists, is directed against the USA and Israel. Indeed, since neither can defer its security to another power, both are forced into roles that provoke the Islamists’ fury. It is frightening to contemplate the outrage provoked if Israel or Washington would mention Iran’s Ausradieren as a national goal. Coming from Iran (or similar sources) such pronouncements are bagatellized by noting that the phrase is old enough to be seen as folklore, it was not meant, and that it reflects an isolation that is best overcome by patiently ignoring the matter. Tehran’s hostility is said to be a reaction to concrete policies. Islamist revelations that their hostility is general and that they regard the concrete issues they articulate to be part of an over-all clash (of cultures), is ignored. terrorist movements is not the destruction of the instruments of power
of a state to be taken over after victory. A Götterdämmerung has no dissuasive effect in the case of people who, as Ahmedinejad does, expect the “return of the Mahdi.”

Exacto: ahí está la clave: Alguien que espera el retorno del Mahdi -no olvidemos que traerá definitivamente la justicia islámica definitiva- le importa poco la muerte de 3.000 o 150.000 infieles. Al fin y al cabo, ni siquiera son inocentes y encima son idiotas, porque aunque nacieron siendo musulmanes resulta que no se han enterado. Además, las armas de destrucción masiva iraquíes siguen en Siria, según Sada, según ya vimos hace unos días. Y claro, Al-Assad no tiene ningún inconveniente en prestárselas…

A lo que se une que alguien de quien ya hablé antes, Chávez, amenaza con comprar más armas:

Turning to oil, the president said if the Bush administration wished to cut diplomatic ties to Venezuela, he would have no second thoughts about closing all the Venezuelan refineries in the US.

«Let’s see what’ll happen to the price of crude oil then», Mr Chavez told his audience.

He said the US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had been wrong last week to compare the Venezuelan president with Adolf Hitler:

«The imperialist, genocidal, fascist attitude of the US president has no limits. I think Hitler would be like a suckling baby next to George W Bush.»

Venezuela was the only country to vote against a previous IAEA resolution in September opening the way for referral. Cuba, a new member of the board of governors, said in a statement it would also vote against referral, saying it would amount to «manipulation by the United States and their allies«

¿Estamos a las puertas de la próxima guerra mundial? (II)

Siguiendo con este tema, justo antes de la pasada reunión de la AIEA,

• CNN News reported that just hours ahead of an emergency meeting of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, a U.S. official said a «troubling» briefing in Vienna has revealed new information that Iran might be pursuing atomic weapons.
• The Guardian reported that Iran’s foreign minister threatened immediate retaliation over a move to refer its nuclear weapons activities to the UNSC.

Un preocupante informe en Viena revelaba información nueva de que Irán estaba persiguiendo armas nucleares. Hmm, eso no creo que fuera algo que requiriese una notable capacidad de análisis. Si un país que amenaza a un vecino con simplemente destruirlo y que defiende su derecho a la tecnología nuclear para «tener más energía», cuando es uno de los mayores productores de gas y petróleo, podemos concluir fácilmente que quiere algún arma potente para desarrollar su amenaza. Claro que siempre hay quien vive en otro planeta -sobre todo, algún otro periodista que ante la verdad, prefiere un mundo de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, por ejemplo, el escritor de este artículo del Wall Street Journal:

«I would sleep happier if there were no Iranian bomb,» writes former Times of London editor Simon Jenkins. «But a swamp of hypocrisy separates me from overly protesting it.» Iran, he adds, «is a proud country that sits between nuclear Pakistan and India to its east, a nuclear Russia to its north and a nuclear Israel to its West. . . Todo eso estaría muy bien SI Irán NO hubiese amenazado a Israel. SI Irán NO hubiese amenazado al resto del mundo occidental (dentro de la noción «Mundo de la Arrogancia» está incluida también Europa, aunque algunos sólo se hayan dado cuenta por las caricaturas….). Creo que ni Paquistán, ni India, ni Rusia -aliado estratégico desde la guerra de Afganistán- ni Israel habían amenazado a los ayatolás. De hecho, nadie dijo nada aunque eligieron al «conservador» Ahmadenijad -yo le llamaría Nazi, pero los periodistas son demasiado correctos y así de paso, intentan hacer que Aznar sea algo así como Ahmadenijad, ambos conservadores, ejem, ejem-.

Parece ser sin embargo, que muchos iraníes no están muy contentos con Ahmadneijad, a pesar de que la BBC censura discursos, en un movimiento parecido a Google con China:

• SMCCDI reported that Iranians are welcoming President George W. Bush’s State of Union Speech many asking for the e-mail listing or fax and phone numbers of the White House.
• Dr Etebar reported that the BBC Persian website censored President Bush’s state of the union speech and his message to the Iranians!

Uff, qué sorpresa, ¿eh? Resulta que hay iraníes que están encantados con el discurso de Bush en el Estado de la Unión y tenemos a la BBC, esa televisión tan imparcial, censurando el discurso, no vaya a ser que alguien cambie su parecer respecto al Presidente de USA, que fue elegido SIN que hubiera que respetar el parecer del Gran Consejo Supremo de los Ayatolás. Simplemente fue elegido por los estadounidenses. Aunque algún «amigou» no esté conforme tampoco.

Claro que los intereses económicos cuentan algo e Irán sabe que, dejar de exportar petróleo produciría una crisis económica importante, así que:

Claro que, como en Europa, mucho gritar no más sangre por petróleo (cuando es USA, no cuando es China, ¿por qué será?), pero NADIE ha intentado realmente descubrir fuentes de energía alternativas, aunque parece que Francia, como ya dije en este post, ante la que se nos viene encima, parece que lo va a proponer a la UE. Así que para que las empresas sean «razonables», USA les ha amenazado con sanciones:

All three are subjects of U.S. Justice Department inquiries into whether they violated sanctions laws, lawyers and others familiar with the inquiries say. Also under investigation but still doing business with Iran are HSBC Holdings PLC, Standard Chartered PLC and BNP Paribas, those people say.Also pulling out of Iranian business in recent months, though not being investigated regarding compliance with sanctions, are Swiss bank Credit Suisse Group, energy firms Baker Hughes Inc., ConocoPhillips of Houston and BP PLCAON Corp. and industrial conglomerate General Electric Co. of Fairfield, Conn. Como ya he dicho en otras ocasiones, Rusia está jugando un doble juego peligroso: si hace unos días, Lavrov, Ministro de Exteriores ruso, decía que Irán no se merecía ni sanciones, porque eso era «poner el carro antes que las mulas», ahora:

• Debka Files reported that Russian FM Sergei Lavrov told the five permanent UN Security Council members that Russia believe Iran is now capable of carrying out its first nuclear test.
  

Y China:

Weeks earlier,  Chinese officials pledged to veto any U.S. or European attempt to impose U.N. sanctions on Iran, particularly any involving an embargo on oil shipments or energy development. In 2004, Iran agreed in principle to sell China 250 million tons of liquefied natural gas over 30 years, a deal valued at $70 billion. China already imports 14 percent of its oil from Iran. Sinopec, a state-owned energy company, hopes to develop Iran’s enormous Yadavaran oil field. These deals violate the U.S. Iran-Libya Sanctions Act, which penalizes foreign companies for investing more than $20 million in Iran. China will not hesitate to oppose (or violate) similar sanctions if imposed by the U.N. or by a U.S.-EU coalition.

La situación dentro de Irán se enrarece cada vez más. La huelga que se está llevando a cabo en Teherán de los conductores de autobuses, cada vez adquiere una dimensión más importante:

• USInfo.State.gov released a statement that the US government expressed support for Iranian workers and their right to protest for better working conditions. The statement specifically mentions bus drivers in Iran.

• Human Rights Watch joined others in calling for Iran to release the Tehran Bus workers arrested for their strike.
• People’s Weekly World Newspaper reported that Iranian police brutally attacked activists of the Tehran and Suburbs Public Transport Trade Union and nearly 1,200 trade union activists and strikers were arrested.

A lo que se une algunas otras medidas:

• Adnkronos International reported that Iranian officials in Isfahan announced that women state employees who fail to wear the Islamic hijab or head scarf face 74 lashes according to Islamic law. -claro que luego hay gente que habla de la libertad de la mujer islámica para no llevarlo… Menuda libertad: que si no te pego-. Las femenistas -Cristina del Valle, por ejemplo-, como siempre, sin decir ni mú. ¿Será por lo mismo que el caricaturista de «El jueves», autor de la tira sobre Dios, que dice ante la reacción musulmana por las caricaturas que «eso es jugar otro partido»?)
  
• SMCCDI reported that two more Iranians were executed, yesterday.

O esta otra:

Claro que luego Sean Penn, ese icono de la izquierda pro-derechos humanos de los terroristas de Guantánamo -y que conste que NO soy la que más apoyo Gitmo pero se necesita ser hipócrita- va de visita a Teherán y dice cosas tan alianzadoramente maravillosas como estas:

También castigan con latigazos a mujeres que no van totalmente tapadas según una religión y condenan a muerte a niñas de 17 años por matar al julai que quería violarlas (eso sí, Amnistía Internacional dice que Nazanin, al defenderse, es una «joven agresora», los AI siempre tan valientes, ¿no?). Irán: ¿estamos a las puertas de una nueva guerra mundial? (I)

Los acontecimientos de las dichosas caricaturas me han privado del tiempo necesario de escribir sobre el Irán, lo que voy a hacer en este post. Es muy importante que tengamos en cuenta que la escalada nuclear iraní, protagonizada por Ahmadenijad de modo especial, es defendida por mucha parte de la clase política del país, aunque ellos hubieran preferido que no fuera tan honesto al respecto.

En primer lugar, hay que señalar que Ahmadenijad sabe perfectamente que no está solo en esto. No solo existen países musulmanes que le han apoyado, si no también países no musulmanes. El ejemplo más claro es Chávez, Presidente de Venezuela, pero también habría que tener en cuenta a Castro.

Chávez, afirmó que «los judíos -los que mataron a Cristo- se habían apoderado de todas las riquezas mundiales, incluyendo el petróleo» (ver post), lo que convierte a Hamas en un aliado estratégico y, por ende a Irán. En principio, Hamas no tiene que ver con Irán (quién si financia a Hizbolá) pero, teniendo en cuenta, que los intereses respecto a Israel son coincidentes (Hamas, Ahmadenijad), podemos comprender que puedan llegar a formar una alianza estratégica.

• The Jerusalem Post reported that the former head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) said Hamas must choose Iran or Israel alliance.
  
• Eli Lake, The New York Sun reported that the victory of Hamas could lead to a civil war within Gaza and the West Bank and an Islamic theocracy.

Pero, además, Chávez ha iniciado una relación estratégica con Teherán. Como recogía Al-Jazeera el 12 de marzo de 2005,

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has defended Iran’s right to pursue a nuclear energy programme, and vowed to back the country in its spat with the United States.

After a meeting with Iranian President Muhammad Khatami on Friday, Chavez said both countries rejected the imperialist policies of the United States. «Iran has every right, like many other countries have done, to develop its atomic energy and continue its research in this field,» Chavez said.

The Iranian president is on a visit to Venezuela to strengthen ties between the two countries.Khatami said both Iran and Venezuela will stand firm against any aggression and lamented «the injustice of the great powers that try to control the world».

En cuanto a Castro, como recoge Martinito o Nuevo Digital:

Fidel Castro incluido, quien durante su reciente visita a Teherán el pasado mes de noviembre se mostró tan interesado en la religión musulmana “que casi conseguimos convertirle al Islam”, según resumió exultante Ali Akbar Haschemi Rafsanjani, expresidente iraní y aún una de las máximas autoridades políticas y religiosas del país.

Así que algunos piensan que una nueva crisis de los misiles está al caer:

Pero ahora, además está Evo Morales:

En la conversación también se discutió “la política nuclear iraní” dentro de los “desarrollos políticos, revolucionarios y antiimperialistas en Latinoamérica” con un “gran potencial” para “incrementar las relaciones de Irán con los países latinoamericanos”, según la entusiástica descripción del legislador iraní recogida con semioficial pulcritud por el Tehran Times.

Centrándonos en Irán, durante las últimas semanas parecíamos asistir a un juego bastante interesante. Los países que cuentan a estos efectos son: en primer lugar, Rusia y China, cuya posición en el conflicto es bastante dudosa, la Unión Europea y USA.

Rusia ha intentado por todos los medios no castigar en exceso a Irán:

• RIA Novosti reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: «I fully support the appeal to resume talks but believe it would be possible only under the generally recognized conditions that assume Iran’s observance of the uranium enrichment moratorium.»
• Asia Times argued the Russian position on Iran.
• Japan Economic Newswire reported that Russia has made a compromise proposal, seeking to simply «inform» the U.N. Security Council of Iran’s nuclear issue instead of referring the issue to the council.

Así las cosas el régimen iraní ha continuado con su postura, sin moverla ni un ápice:

• Reuters reported that Iran‘s chief nuclear negotiator dampened hopes that Tehran was leaning toward a compromise.
• Reuters reported that Iran has pledged access for U.N. inspectors to equipment from the former Lavisan military site in a possible bid to avert a crackdown by the U.N. nuclear watchdog (IAEA) next week.
  

Inclusive mandando espías a infiltrar la AIEA y negociando con Corea del Norte la venta de plutonio:

• The Telegraph reported that Iran has formed a top secret team of nuclear specialists to infiltrate the IAEA to obtain information on the work of IAEA inspectors.
• Michael Sheridan, The Times reported that North Korea is negotiating to sell the Iranians plutonium.

Muy interesante es este último:

The belief that Iran and North Korea are talking about plutonium stems from a recently reported offer of oil and gas from Tehran in exchange for nuclear technology.

The discovery by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2004 that North Korea had sold an estimated 1.7 tons of uranium to Libya established a precedent for the sale and showed how hard it is to stop, diplomats say.

The Americans were aghast to learn last year that while engaging in disarmament talks, North Korea had made enough plutonium to amass a stockpile of about 43 kilograms, perhaps as much as 53kg. For the first time since the nuclear crisis began in 1994 it has sufficient fissile material to sell some to its ally while retaining enough for its own purposes.

Plutonium is the element used to fuel the bomb that destroyed Nagasaki in 1945. Between 7kg and 9kg are needed for a weapon. According to Siegfried Hecker, the eminent American nuclear scientist, officials in North Korea intend to restart a reactor that will produce 60kg a year.

O sea, el régimen norcoreano que mata sacerdotes con apisonadoras por no adorar a Kim Johm II -atención, esto mismo hacían los emperadores romanos hace la friolera de ¡¡¡¡20 siglos!!!!- y cuya población se muere literalmente de hambre -y se persigue a los que quieren huir por ello, no sólo tiene plutonio para él si no también para el resto de sus «aliados» e inclusive quiere construir un reactor que fabrique 60 kg al año. Claro, que no extraña que la situación esté así de mal cuando quien ha negociado con ellos han sido Jimmy «Dhimmi» Carter y Bill «Lewinsky» Clinton. Y a todos los tontos les da por lo mismo:

Sí, claro, un tipo que quiere que le adoren y que mata a gente de hambre o con apisonadoras es un tipo que está totalmente cuerdo. Hombre, por favor…

Hay algunos sin embargo, que no se dejan engañar: así Angela Merkel:

• Reuters reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that «Iran threatens not only the Jewish state but the entire democratic world.»

«I don’t see the slightest difference in the views of Germany and Israel,» Merkel said. «It is clear that Iran should not get the ability to enrich uranium.»[…]

Merkel also condemned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his anti-Israeli remarks.

Otros no se han enterado durante mucho tiempo y cuando lo hacen les da algo:

The New York Times reported that while Ahmadinejad has been the subject of many jokes across Iran, he is consolidating his power and he has threatened to wipe not just Israel off the map, but America, too.

Hmm, sobre eso escribí hace por lo menos dos meses, pero esta imagen NO fue difundida:

porque si lo hubiera sido el mensaje estaba muy claro: primero iba a caer América y LUEGO Israel. Ya veo las celebraciones de algunos en esa posibilidad. Esperamos que no se dé.

Como ya expliqué entonces, según Ahmadenijad, el Mahdi -el último profeta que ha de venir a impartir justicia islámica- está próximo. Eso sí, hay otros que piensan que su llegada es inminente:

• Hamed Irani, Rooz Online reported that the radical Baseej forces in Iran believe the return of the absent Imam (12th Shiite Imam) is imminent.

Así las cosas los 5 miembros permanentes del Consejo de Seguridad (USA, Francia, Gran Bretaña, Rusia y China) acuerdan en una reunión conjunta que la AIEA debe mandar el expediente de Irán al Consejo de Seguridad:

Reuters reported that the permanent five members of the U.N. Security Council agreed on Tuesday that this week’s meeting of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog should report Iran to the Council.

Sin embargo, ese mismo día dice Clinton:

• Jenny Davey in Davos, The Times reported that Bill Clinton called for America to forge closer links with Iran, saying that talks had to allow Tehran to «preserve a sense of national dignity.»

Lo de este hombre es de traca. Irán está amenazando con destruir ¡su propio país! y a él sólo se le preocupa la dignidad nacional de Irán. Aunque claro si nos atenemos a lo que dijo de Hamas (por reliapundit aka The Astute Blogger), es bastante lógico.
