La última de Michael Jackson

He was wearing an abaya, a robe with long sleeves, under which his pants, white shirt and men’s shoes could be seen, and his head and face were wrapped in a black veil. He had black gloves on his hands.
The veil, abaya and gloves were of a style typically worn by conservative Bahraini women, though Jackson appeared to be wearing them to hide his identity.
With him was a woman — also in an abaya and jeans and a scarf over her head that partially covered her face — who had the two other children. All three children’s faces were wrapped in black scarves, and they wore yellow shirts and sweatpants or khakis without robes. The woman’s identity was not known.

In November, Jackson stirred a small controversy in the United Arab Emirates by entering the ladies room in a shopping mall. His publicist said Jackson, who arrived in Dubai as the guest of a champion rally driver, did not understand the Arabic sign on the door and left the bathroom as soon as he realized his mistake.
But local newspapers reported that the 47-year-old performer was spotted applying make-up in the woman’s toilets in a Dubai mall.

Mojtaba SamieNejad, 25 year old blogger and student, was first arrested on November 1, 2004 for reporting the arrests of three other bloggers. He was held in custody for almost three months. Following his temporary release on January 27, 2005, he started a new blog to reflect his thoughts and beliefs. This resulted in a second unlawful arrest which has lasted to this day.

Mojtaba is kept in Ghezel Hesar prison amongst inmates convicted of murder and other serious offences. Mojtaba was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment on June 2, 2005. This sentence was issued by Judge Saadat of Revolutionary Court 13.

It is ours’ and all human rights activists’ duty to take a stand against the injustice of imprisonment for voicing one’s opinion. We ask all bloggers, human rights organizations and free people of the world to help Mojtaba by voicing their objection to his sentencing and demand his immediate and unconditional release.

Podeis ver aquí su blog.

Las armas de destrucción masiva de Iraq

Posted by Spanish Eowyn en 28/enero/2006

Así lo señala el New York Sun (via Michelle Malkin):

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein’s air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.
The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, «Saddam’s Secrets,» released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.
«There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands,» Mr. Sada said. «I am confident they were taken over.»
Mr. Sada’s comments come just more than a month after Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam «transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria.»
Pilots of the two airliners that transported the weapons of mass destruction to Syria from Iraq approached him in the middle of 2004, after Saddam was captured by American troops.
“I know them very well. They are very good friends of mine. We trust each other. We are friends as pilots,” Mr. Sada said of the two pilots. He declined to disclose their names, saying they are concerned for their safety. But he said they are now employed by other airlines outside Iraq.

Georges Sada was born into an Assyrian Christian family in northern Iraq and became a born-again believer in 1986. Georges had great favor with the former Iraqi dictator, as he is one of the few Iraqi men to ever publicly confront Saddam Hussein and live to tell about it. Georges believes a key reason why he served as one of Saddam’s most trusted advisors was to persuade him against attacking the nation of Israel with chemical weapons, something Saddam attempted to do on two separate occasions.
Now retired, Georges is director of the Iraqi Institute for Peace and also serves as spokesman for the newly elected prime minister of Iraq. He is also the president of the National Presbyterian Church in Baghdad and chairman of the Assembly of Iraqi Evangelical Presbyterian Churches.
In recent years, Georges held the position of principal advisor to the former Iraqi Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi (incluso trabajó para él cuando era Ministro de Defensa). Additionally, he acted as the lead consultant for the reconstruction of all three branches of the Iraqi defense system. In June of 2003, Georges received the prestigious International Prize for Peace and Reconciliation presented by the Bishop of Coventry, England.

Saddam Hussein moved his chemical weapons to Syria six weeks before the war started, Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom says. The Israeli officer, Lieutenant General Moshe Yaalon, asserted that Saddam spirited his chemical weapons out of the country on the eve of the war. “He transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria,” General Yaalon told The New York Sun over dinner in New York on Tuesday night. “No one went to Syria to find it.”

Mr. Duelfer -CIA’s chief weapons inspector- did not close the books. “ISG was unable to complete its investigation and is unable to rule out the possibility that WMD was evacuated to Syria before the war,” Mr. Duelfer said in a report posted on the CIA’s Web site Monday night.

También lo dijo Ariel Sharon:

These concerns first became public when, on December 23, 2002, Ariel Sharon stated on Israeli television, “Chemical and biological weapons which Saddam is endeavoring to conceal have been moved from Iraq to Syria.”[24] About three weeks later, Israel’s foreign minister repeated the accusation.[25] The U.S., British, and Australian governments issued similar statements.

Y aún más (vía Sister Toldjac):

Don’t forget that former UNSCOM inspector Bill Tierney speculated in an interview with Frontpage Magazine last November that they had been moved to Syria as well.

«With all of the reporters covering the story, however, it appears that no one did any research into the background of the Hassan family, or made any attempts to verify the young man’s story. If they had, they might have been compelled to ask some very basic — but extremely important questions…»

«…research and investigation into Dr. Redha Hassan found that he was arrested by the FBI in 1985 for forging 2000 Iraqi passports and military I.D. cards and seeking to forge 2,000 more….»

His excuse for facilitating his son’s trip into a war zone was that if he didn’t let him go, it would have left an emotional scar. What a sensitive father, willing to risk his son’s being cut ear to ear just to save him from disappointment.

The doctor’s capture happened in Fort Lauderdale, but the covert web of Hassan’s cohorts stretched across the world. Also arrested were two of Hassan’s brothers, Nouri and Ali, and a «pro-Khomeini» activist named Salah Jawad Schubber.

[…]In it, he basically admitted that his father knew about his travel plans and offered that, while in Lebanon, he’d visited the offices of the Islamist group Hezbollah, which has carried out countless terrorist acts.

«With each group of persons I immersed myself, I changed my persona,» he told interviewer Rita Cosby. «When I was with Christians, I told them that I was a Lebanese Christian, an American Christian, and my name was Jason.

«And when I met with the Hezbollah leader… I told [him] that I work for a school newspaper and that I wanted to show Americans that Hezbollah is, in fact, a good organization that’s fighting for the Shiite people in Lebanon.»

So the kid’s a chameleon and, apparently, a born liar. I wonder what role he was playing while immersed with Rita Cosby. Oh yeah, it was the idealistic rich American boy who played hooky from school to promote democracy.

  • Michael Ledeen, National Review Online reminded us that the Iranian regime is increasingly vulnerable to an internal regime change if the west would invest the resources necessary to broadcast the truth about the regime to its people.
  • Kenneth R. Timmerman, reported that Iran apocalyptic President is creating internal fissures in the regime that the US needs to exploit now.
  • Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, The Weekly Standard reported on how to understand and exploit Iran’s internal fissures.
En este último artículo, se dice:
Far from being an ordinary politician, Ahmadinejad is an idealist, one whose ideals are rooted in the bloodstained Iranian revolution. Ahmadinejad’s total devotion to these revolutionary principles caused Amir Taheri, an astute observer of Iranian politics, to refer to the president as «Iran’s perilously honest man.»Part of Ahmadinejad’s perilous honesty is exposing the Iranian political establishment’s corruption. An initial report from an audit of public finances that the president ordered found over $100 billion of Iran’s oil revenue since the revolution not «properly accounted for Ahmadinejad thinks that the mullahs themselves have been compromised.
Hmmm….
Far more noticeable to Westerners, though, is Ahmadinejad’s honesty about the Iranian regime’s ideals. Unlike past president Mohammad Khatami, Ahmadinejad doesn’t quote Habermas in his speeches for the benefit of Western audiences.
Even Khamenei may be threatened by Ahmadinejad’s dangerous idealism. Khamenei is very much an establishment figure, having served two terms as president before being elevated to supreme leader. Ahmadinejad favors Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, who is considered more ideologically pure than Khamenei.
Observers think it possible that Ahmadinejad could try to replace Khamenei with Mesbah Yazdi. While there have only been two supreme leaders in Iran’s history, Ahmadinejad could make the switch if he’s able to stack the powerful Assembly of Experts with figures loyal to him.
BOTH RAFSANJANI AND KHATAMI have orchestrated a campaign of character assassination against Ahmadinejad in recent months designed to paint him as a delusional figure who believes that the Hidden Imam guided him through a September speech before the United Nations.

Briton Mr Kember is being held along with three other westerners by the Swords of Truth group, which is calling for the release of all Iraqi prisoners.
It says the four hostages will be killed if its demands are not met.
Mr Kember, 74, of Pinner, north London, was seized along with two Canadians and an American in Baghdad on 26 November.
The latest videotape showing the four hostages is dated 21 January.
The UK Foreign Office said it had «no comment» to make on the video at this stage.
Mr Kember’s fellow hostages are Canadians James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, and an American Tom Fox, 54.
Mr Kember was last seen in a video aired on al-Jazeera in early December, blindfolded and with his hands tied.
Hmmm, what a danger an old man poses to terrorists in Iraq: reality shows that he is totally frightened. And when Canada joined the Iraqi war? I am astonished of the kidnapping of two of canadian nationality. I just keep asking myself: how on earth this could not be totally condemned by all people???
